Devang Gandhi named Delhi coach | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: In a bid to carry out a transition, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has appointed former India batter and ex-national selector Devang Gandhi as the chief coach for the senior team for the upcoming domestic season. Robin Singh Jr. has been named the chief selector.
Forever fighting accusations of favouritism by coaches, the DDCA management was looking for a neutral candidate. Gandhi’s experience as a national selector that helped India build a strong reserve pool from 2016-2020 and his decent run as coach of Bengal’s U-19 team put him ahead of all other candidates.
Gandhi’s biggest challenge will be to build a team which has lost two senior batters Nitish Rana and Dhruv Shorey to other state teams.
The DDCA also put together a high performance group of coaches which will oversee players across all age-groups in both men and women’s teams. Parvinder Awana, Gursharan Singh and Devender Sharma will head the bowling, batting and wicketkeeping departments respectively. The idea was to bring in some sense of uniformity for players going through the grades.
