NEW DELHI: The rare special session of Parliament commenced on Monday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi promising that the five-day gathering of lawmakers will yield “historic decisions.” “This session is short but based on the timing, it is very big,” PM Modi told Parliament.
The Prime Minister also urged all the members to contribute effectively in this session, leaving old problems behind and bringing new goods to this new house.
The last special session happened in 2017 to roll out India’s historic nationwide goods and services tax.

“At this time, we all are feeling an atmosphere of enthusiasm and a new confidence in the entire country. At the same time, this session of Parliament is taking place.”

Now, while taking forward the journey from a new place, we have to make the country a developed country by 2047. For this, all the decisions will be taken in the new Parliament building.”

Ahead of the session’s commencement, while speaking to the press outside Parliament, Prime Minister Modi affirmed that all pivotal decisions pertaining to India’s transformation into a developed nation by 2047 will be taken in the new Parliament building.
The initial session today is being conducted within the confines of the old Parliament building, with Members of Parliament slated to relocate to the new facility on September 19, marking the second day of the special session.
