Sony launches G Master FE 16-35 mm GM II with fixed F2.8 aperture

Sony has expanded its wide-angle zoom lens — G Master — series lineup with the launch of a new 16-35mm lens. The lens has an aperture of 2.8 and is compatible with 35mm full-frame Alpha E-mount cameras.
The lens covers the focal length of 16mm to 35mm and the aperture value remains constant at F2.8 throughout the focal length.
The company says that the lens has been designed to fulfil the needs of photographers and videographers seeking high performance lenses.

The lens features a new optical design featuring an extreme aspherical (XA) lens that claims to offer high resolution throughout its F2.8 aperture range. It also claims to produce beautiful bokeh and offers excellent close-up capabilities with a minimum shooting distance of 0.22m and a maximum magnification of 0.32x.
Sony’s Nano AR Coating II prevents ghosting and flares, ensuring clear images even with strong light sources.
The FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM II features fast and precise autofocus with the XD linear motors that make it suitable for both stills and movies. It is up to twice as fast as previous models and pairs seamlessly with the α1 camera for high-speed continuous shooting at up to 30 fps.
The lens is built to withstand outdoor use with a dust proof and splash proof design.

The new FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM II (model SEL1635GM2) will be available across all Sony Centers, Alpha Flagship stores, Sony authorised dealers, e-commerce websites (Amazon and Flipkart) and major electronic stores across India from 15th September onwards.
