Several works of art often leave people amazed on social media. Be it oil painting, acrylic, pen, or pencil. The artists use various tools to create a masterpiece. Recently, a teacher’s chalk art has caught the attention of the internet and has gone viral. According to him, his art has also won the hearts of his friends and colleagues who have always been very appreciative of his talent.
Balraj Singh, 37, from Chandigarh, is a physical education teacher in a government school. In an interview with News18, he said that he calls it chalk art. This chalk art is caricatures of famous people on pieces of chalk earning him appreciation and recognition.
About 10 years ago, when he was working in a private school, he used to make art on a piece of chalk using pen refills. He has made 550 caricatures on chalks and almond kernels so far including Prime Minister of India -Narendra Modi, former President -Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Lata Mangeshkar, Amitabh Bachchan, Milkha Singh, Dhyan Chand, Bhagat Singh and Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar among many others.
He has also created artwork with pictures of gods and goddesses and slogans to give a message to society. Apart from this, he has also made the smallest cup and plate of about 2mm. He previously participated in exhibitions from the local to the national level to display his art by setting up stalls. There has also been honoured by Sanskar Bharti in Chandigarh.
This miniature artist wishes that if he gets a chance in life, he would love to gift the chalk art to the people whose caricatures he made. In the same interview he also shared that whenever he makes a caricature of a person, he also tries to reach them by using hashtags through his social media account.
Previously, a woman gained fame for her chalk drawings. She made the drawings on a blackboard with the help of chalk as her medium.
